The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is a brand-new rail shooter game. Although it is a short game, taking less than a day to finish, this game is an excellent opportunity to see how the PlayStation VR2 headset could be in the future. Switchback VR makes amazing use of eye-tracking technology, making it one of the first games to use it in a fascinating way.
The eye-tracking technology is used in a way that makes the player feel uncanny. Every time you blink, the enemies come closer to you, and when you hear screaming or feel like an enemy is coming up behind you, it makes your head turn as a reflex. Moreover, the fact that you have to dodge so that you can steer clear of falling objects such as pillars makes the game much more immersive. Even though these kinds of actions are not plentiful in the game, they truly make it a wonderful experience for the players.

Shooting mechanics in The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR
You have two guns at all times to kill your enemies. You have the chance to get guns like a revolver or a machine gun; however, you start each level with the default pistols. Sometimes, as a variation on only killing enemies, you get flare guns to solve puzzles to move forward.
Since rail shooter games are mainly about killing as many enemies as you can, the shooting mechanics have been made simple. You have one firing and one reloading button on each controller. Shooting in the game is very reactive, and the motion control for aiming feels very accurate.
Lastly, if you wish to get a higher score, in addition to killing your enemies, you can also shoot objects in the game. There is an even scoreboard where you can keep track of both your and other players’ scores.
