Sony Ready to Focus on PS5 Games and Ditch PS4

Ever since the PS5 was released a few years ago, it’s safe to say that we’ve been in a weird phase where all Sony games and even third-party games for the console were developed for both the PS5 and the PS4. That brought in a lot of problems, with Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS4 being a prime example of how a next-gen game should not be on older consoles.

Sony to phase out ps4

Sony To Focus On PS5

After quite some time of trying to offer support for the older console even if there’s a new one available, it seems that Sony is finally ready to move forward. There are still some games set to arrive soon like Assassin’s Creed Mirage or Resident Evil 4, but also Street Fighter 6 that will be on the PS4 too.

However, the Horizon VR Spin-off and the Spiderman 2 game will only be on the PS5, along with many other titles like the Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Final Fantasy 16, Suicide Squad, and Alone in the Dark. The recently released Forspoken is also a PS5-only release too. Many of these games are extremely complex and very detailed, so they can’t really run very well on hardware that’s almost 10 years old.

It’s easy to see why Sony had to postpone PS5-only games, with the pandemic-related chip shortages being a prime example. Scalpers also made it difficult for people to get their hands on such a console. Needless to say, the PS4 owners needed support and Sony offered that to them.

However, the PS5 is much easier to purchase nowadays and you can even find it bundled with all kinds of games. On top of that, there are a lot of games to play on the PS5 now, with the console slowly building a better and better collection. That’s why it makes a lot of sense to grab your own PS5 right now and play some of the many games that will become available very soon.

We think that the PS5 is set to receive a lot of great games this year, so this is a great time to upgrade from a PS4. The old console is slowly getting phased out, understandable considering its age. Yet it’s amazing to see that the console got so much support and there are hundreds of games to play on it!
